Maternal & Infant Health: Protecting the Most Vulnerable

In the current February 2026 drought crisis, water scarcity is no longer just a logistical challenge—it is a direct biological threat to the survival of the next generation. For a mother in Kenya's arid lands, clean water is the difference between a safe delivery and a life-threatening complication.

Key Program Interventions

  • Immunization & Maternal Health Checks: We provide routine prenatal screenings, vaccinations, and iron-folic acid supplementation. Our teams conduct malnutrition screenings for infants and ensure lactating mothers have the hydration required for breastfeeding.

  • Nutrition Programs: Delivery of high-energy therapeutic foods (RUTF) for malnourished infants and dietary support for 134,000 pregnant women currently facing acute food insecurity in the ASAL regions.

  • Child Protection & Psychosocial Support: Reducing the "Water Walk" for pregnant women through village-level boreholes, preventing physical trauma and reducing the stress of water anxiety through community counseling.

  • Adolescent Engagement & Reproductive Health: Empowering young women with reproductive health education and life skills, ensuring they have the knowledge and resources to manage hygiene even during climate shocks.

  • Community & Caregiver Involvement: Training mothers in household water treatment and hygiene (WASH) to prevent water-borne diseases like cholera, which are lethal to infants.

  • Family Support Systems: Utilizing digital dashboards to track maternal and infant health metrics in real-time, allowing for rapid intervention when malnutrition levels spike in specific counties.

Building Sustainable Healthcare

Beyond immediate emergency relief, we are strengthening the backbone of rural healthcare. We prioritize drilling solar-powered boreholes directly connected to maternity clinics and health centers. By ensuring 24/7 access to sterilized water, we reduce maternal sepsis and infant mortality, creating a resilient healthcare system that protects families for generations to come.
